Big Solitaires 3D

Postby Pater Alf » Fri Feb 15, 2008 20:04

Here's a game I found using the news section Maz created (so it's not as useless as I thought).

Well, it's a Solitaire game. I assume everybody who ever used Windows played Solitaire once or twice before, so I guess I don't have to explain it.

"Big Solitaires 3D" offers a great variety of different Solitaire types and is available for Windows and Linux.

Great. Now we need only decent minesweeper and pinball. :)

Now that you talk about it: There was a pinball game I downloaded some time ago (you were able to build your own tables). Will look if I can find it... ;)

We have a decent Minesweeper - it's called Acidbomb, and there are two of them.

The fact that there are so many different types of solitaire games that you can play - and with help for the ones you dont know so you can learn new ones - really makes this a grand game. HOWEVER it also has so many small annoyances that gets to you. For example when you want to move more than 4 cards in a row in Oceans Eleven then you can't move more than 3 of them because the cursor doesn't sense that there is more cards behind those. So unless you have a place to park the cards while you move the row in sections then you wont win.
So a solitaire game that offers you so many options except the option to win without bugs.

I have no problem with moving more than three cards at once.
But i was also playing Klondike.
Is it only in Oceans Eleven?

In the rules for Oceans Eleven:
Groups of cards can be moved if there are enough Reserve piles free to allow the move if the cards were moved singly.

That means, as far as i understand, that you only had two reserve piles available when you tried to move the cards. In that case, it's not a bug, it's just part of the game rules.
I've tested it, and i came to these results. If you have three reserve piles free, you can move a stack of four cards, and if you have two reserve piles free, you can move a stack of three.

Oh...Damn. I was aware of that. It simply seemed like a bug to me when I encountered it. Mostly because it was random how many cards I coul move, but now I see a pattern...:)

Sadly, I have to report that the 'Rail' deck has nothing to do with railroads.

Still playing this game anyway. Will vote soon.

Since this game covers Freecell, and we already have better versions of Minesweeper and Pinball, could CWF have a 'Windows Games Redux' package or something?

Just a thought.

Nice idea! But we have to check carefully if we're allowed to bundle the games in such a package...

BTW: We have a Pinball game???

Well, if we don't have a pinball game, then I guess someone has to find one!

I'll see what I can dig up...

Anyway, since this has been accepted, can it be uploaded to CWF? I am fixing to write a review for it.

I will add the game to the database as soon as possible...

One question to all Linux users: When I try to download the Linux version of the game the download always breaks for me (I get files that are 100 -200 kb). Does anyone have a working Linux version?

The game has been added to CWF's database. You can download Big Solitaires 3D (just for Windows at the moment) from our game info page:

http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/game_i ... gameid=287

I will add the Linux file as soon as I find a working download...

After I installed the new version of AntiVir it suddenly gave me a warning about Adware/Spyware in "Big Solitaires 3D". It might be a false alarm, but I wonder if anyone else encountered problems?

I uploaded a new file of the game (that was compiled after I informed the developer about the problem) and now there a no more warnings. You can be sure that the game is 100% virus free as it was tested with 40 different antivirus programs!
